Description:
Hunter is a wonderful pup that doesn’t put a paw out of place. He is now 8 months old, and is around 75 pounds. He is well socialized and has been around horses, goats, cats and dogs both large and small. He also was in a house with children aged 7 and up. He loves to play fetch, and still has a bit of growing to do, as he is a Great Dane Mix. He has been great here, and has not chewed anything inappropriate, and he loves his peanut butter Kongs and other toys. He crates easily. He is fully potty trained. He does not have a mean bone in his body, although he does have a big alert bark, but calms quickly. When he sees people he likes he can jump up but we are working on his “four on the floor” training and he is a fast learner. Like many Danes he can be a couch potato, but he does need a good amount of exercise to keep him at his best. He should have a good long walk at least once a day, and a good game of fetch as well. A physically fenced yard is best. NO electronic fences please. Hunter would be good with children over five years old, with seven and up strongly preferred. Hunter does not know his own size and can sometimes become filled with puppy silliness and bap with his paws. He does love to snuggle and be a lap dog. Any family interested in him should be okay with having a large dog that shows his affection lavishly. The best fit for Hunter would be an active family that would love to take him with them wherever they go, as a family member. He is still a pup and would benefit from some obedience classes, and could make a great therapy dog. No prong collars, e-collars or other harsh training methods for this pup, positive motivational obedience only, he is a sensitive soul.
HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.
