Description:
Someone out there is going to have a very loving, loyal, and hilarious companion when we’re lucky enough to find Buddy his new home. I’ve been working with Buddy for several weeks now and I am updating the post below to better correlate with my observations and experiences.

Most of you will remember Buddy, the very handsome, people friendly  Bulldog Mix with the piercing blue eyes that we adopted out some weeks ago. Buddy absolutely loves car rides, learning new things, and sitting outside with his humans.  He’s very quickly learned to sit on command as I enter and exit his kennel.

Buddy is back with us.  Buddy is afraid of dogs that are larger than him. He is a strong boy and broke off his harness and jumped a three foot fence when he saw someone walking their dog by his new home. (The other dog was fine except for a nip on his ear).

Buddy obviously wasn’t socialized with other dogs as a puppy like he should have been but I’ve been working on that to learn more. He’s been friendly with dogs his size and smaller, tail wagging, while he meets them on leash. He absolutely loves humans and Buddy craves human interaction more than any dog I’ve seen come through our kennels. He will make a very loyal and loving companion for someone who can manage him safely. He may benefit from training focused on acclimating him to other, larger dogs.

Many people have dogs in their home that aren’t good with other dogs. The reason I say Buddy is afraid is because when he sees a larger dog, he looks back at me like “Help me! I don’t know what to do”. So he barks and carries on, pulling at the leash, because that’s all he knows how to do. Buddy will need to be on a leash at all times when he’s taken outside. He can’t be tied to a tree or pole because he is strong and can potentially break fee without supervision.

Buddy is the cutest boy, and he’s extremely loving and dependent on his human. He is about a year old, he weighs about 50 pounds, he’s been neutered and is up to date on vaccinations. He tested negative for heart worm disease and is on a monthly HW preventative.

For his safety, I’m going to insist on Buddy having a 6 foot fenced in back yard and an experienced dog owner. If you would like to meet or potentially adopt Buddy, please submit your adoption application under his name at happydaysdogandcatrescue.org.

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change inform ination.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
