Meet Duke, our newest resident at the Mikey & Me kennels for Happy Days Rescue.

Duke is an 11 month old Husky/Shepherd mix and he weighs 45-50 pounds. He came to us pretty scared and he was hesitant to do much but that only lasted a day or two. Duke is already taking walks and interacting with me and the members of our volunteer team very nicely.

Duke is non reactive to the other dogs we have and he previously lived in a home with children and two other dogs. He was surrendered by his owners because Duke would dig under their wrought iron fence and escape the yard for a couple days at a time. He is a gentle, sweet boy and he appears to be potty trained as well.

Duke hasn’t been neutered yet (hence is desire to wander) but he will be in the coming weeks. He will be given all necessary vaccinations and will be microchipped at that time. Duke tested negative for Heart Worm disease on Friday but a follow up test will be warranted this Spring due to his young age.
