Description:
Meet Pepper! Pepper is an eight week old Australian Cattle Dog Cross, a Blue Heeler. She is super smart, sassy and full of spunk. If you are looking for puppy that is calm, suited for toddlers and a couch potato lifestyle, you can stop reading now.
Pepper is about seven pounds of lean puppy machine and looking for an active family or individual to call her own. Another pup of the opposite sex would make her life even more awesome but a bunch of adoring humans would also be cool.
Cattle dogs are known to nip and herd (hey, that is what they were bred to do) so are not suitable for children under seven.
Or children older than that, if they cannot follow instructions not to trigger the herding instinct.
Pepper would do best with a person who has had a dog before, as she is a lot in one small package.
Pepper is not potty trained, but she is using a litterbox as it is too cold outside. She likes to be clean and is usually good about using it. You will need to train her to go outside once adopted.
Pepper is used to being in a crate and ex-pen. She will likely become an extremely athletic dog, and should wind up being about 35-55 pounds full grown.
Her current hobbies are digging, chewing, eating and barking for attention. Not necessarily in that order. She loves to please, and would do best in an obedience course to help her be the best pup she can be.
Bottom line: If you have older, respectful children, a fenced in yard (no electronic fences) and love the outdoors in all kinds of weather, this dog is for you! If Pepper does not have a job, she will make up
If you live in a condo with a small fenced space for her to potty and are a marathon runner, that might work. But, remember, we don’t know how big she will get, so a place with a size limit on dogs would not work.
Apartment dwellers, sorry to say, this girl is not for you.
Pepper can climb a 36" pen with ease therefore she will require a fully fenced in yard (not partial) of at least 4ft. A privacy fence would be best.
If Pepper sounds like the right girl for you, send in your application!
HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.
