Description:
Ember is really doing great in her foster home! She has a super soft and gentle temperament. Her brother Emerson was adopted and she is now in the house with the big dogs. Ember is good overnight with potty training, and has also been great during the day with hardly an “oops!” for the past two weeks! She has been on many adventures, and enjoys her walks on a leash. She has gotten really good with leash walks and sometimes is going on walks with her “big” foster brothers! Ember really enjoys snuggles and being held by her fostermomma. She relaxes and sleeps on her lap during movies, but loves to watch sometimes. She is great at riding in the car now! All in all she is a great pup! All of this is good, but she is still shy when being introduced to new people and things. But, after a few minutes her curiosity and playfulness kick in and things get fun!!! Ember is easily handled, and extremely gentle. She has had her nails trimmed with very little fuss, and is usually quiet in her crate or when out and about. Ember should grow up to be about 45 pounds. She also may be a good fit for an active person in a condo situation, with a solid exercise and puppy training/playdate/doggy daycare plan. Ember is looking for a loving family, (see below for additional things we are looking for) to take her to lots of new places, and to actively encourage her to explore the exciting world that is out there! Please read the bio below, and if it sounds like you could be the one, send in your application today! Ember is a sweet little Golden Retreiver Mix (she is going to be on the small side) pup who is super smart and very gentle. She had a very rough start in life, but is looking for a home that will commit to taking her out and about to explore everything she has missed out on. She loves to snuggle and play with humans. Ember is fine in a crate or ex-pen. She does not seem to be a power chewer, or chew on inappropriate things, but she does seem very curious and athletic when left to her own devices, so as with any puppy, a watchful eye is recommended.
She is a bit shy right now, but loves to explore, and when introduced properly to new things, she is enthusiastic about new things! She is gentle, and would do well with older, respectful children who can follow instructions (ages eight and older). She did very well at the vet, and was a champ for her exams! She has learned to wear a collar and is starting to learn to walk on a short leash.
Ember does not have a mean bone in her body, and is young enough to learn to co-exist with indoor kitties, perhaps. We do not have indoor cats, but she has not seemed to have interest in our dog savvy outdoor cats or chickens (safely fenced). She seems to be a bit puzzled by them. She loved meeting an extra large horse nose to nose! Another dog in the home would be a bonus, she should be fine with all types, young and old, big and little.
Ember is not house trained. Ember does not know any commands yet. She needs positive motivational training, and a supportive adult presence to help shape her into the best dog she can be. She will need to be encouraged to explore new things and as have as many positive experiences as soon as possible. No harsh training methods, no prong or choke collars. No electronic collars or fencing. A physical fence will be required for her, no tie outs please.
HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter. ![]() Other Pictures of D94 litter Ember (click to see larger version):
