Description:

Cooper is a lovely mix of Yellow Lab and Dalmatian with a touch of Boxer mixed in perhaps. When he was brought in to the shelter, he weighed only 43 pounds.  Cooper is now 53 pounds, but should be at least 60 pounds to be healthy.
It is clear that this happy and bouncy boy had a rough go of it for some time.  He has “tennis ball teeth” which means his lower front teeth are worn down to little nubs (dogs that are allowed to play with tennis balls wear their teeth away in this pattern). This is not painful for him, and he has no trouble eating or playing with his toys.

Cooper is a total love bug, and has a wonderful temperament. He has great manners, knows sit, and loves to please.  He rides well in the car, is a champ at putting on a harness, loves to go out for walks and does not pull on the leash.  Cooper is quiet in the house, is potty trained and seems to do well with other dogs. He is not interested in our barn cats, but if you have indoor kitties you may have to manage their interactions.  He is such a good boy!

We are looking for an active home that will shower love and affection on him, and use gentle positive motivational training to help him be the best pup he can be.  Because we do not know Cooper’s backstory, and he can be a total goofball (typical boxer behavior) and sometimes gets puppy “zoomies”,  we are looking for a home with children 12 and up. Cooper did test positive for Lymes Disease, but is being treated. He is moderately active, but as he gains weight and regains his full health, he may become more active and need more exercise.  Right now he is doing light walks, three times a day, but in the future longer walks or runs would be best.  Or sessions catching ball in the backyard would really be fun as well. Cooper will need a physically fenced in yard. No prong, choke, shock collars or other harsh training methods.  No electronic fencing (“invisible”).

We are looking for an excellent home for this super pup. If you think you are a match for him, send in your application today!

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
