Meet Eimi! Eimi (pronounced “Amy”) means “Beloved” in Japanese. This gorgeous girl is a 4-year-old 80# female Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever Mix and was pulled from a pound in the south.
We were told she is good with all other animals, including dogs and chickens. Also, that she was good with children and had no food aggression. So far, she seems very good with dogs and chickens (!) and has not put a paw out of place when it comes to being gentle with taking treats or being handled and groomed. She is excellent on the leash. She is also good with dogs, does not seem to notice cats. We have no children to work with her but feel that she could go to a home with sturdy, gentle and dog savvy children over 8 years old. So far, Eimi does not chew on inappropriate items. She also has shown little interest in chewing on any toys but LOVES treats and food.
Unfortunately, Eimi has not had the best life. She came to us covered in ticks and is currently being treated for tick borne diseases and will be on medications for some time. Eimi was fantastic at the vet, and the entire staff sang her praises. We are giving her the best care possible and have seen much improvement. She is eating well and seems pretty happy. Eimi is very large framed but low energy right now, and possibly could be medium energy in the future when she is feeling better and used to her environment. We have not heard Eimi bark since she came to us, but the Great Pyrenees breed is known to bark to protect livestock. Eimi needs light exercise, good food, and a loving low-key environment to heal and become the best pup she can be.
Eimi is housebroken, and seems to want to use the doggie door, which is not in use right now since we are repairing the small outdoor run fence this month. Eimi can be unsure in some situations and is a bit timid about getting in the car, but once loaded, she is quiet and calm. Eimi is also very intelligent and capable of scaling a 36” gate, opening doors and latches. This happens when she is trying to find her people, she loves being next to her humans. Outdoors, she will always need to be on a leash. She will need a secure, non-climb fence (not chain link) and a dig proof yard. A detached or ground level condo with a small fenced area (non climb kennel panels or solid fencing) would be something that would work for her. Dog friendly apartment housing would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
We are looking for an incredible home for this sweet pup. She needs a patient, caring and dedicated home environment. If you are willing to go the extra mile for this stunning girl with a heart of gold, please send in your application today.
Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information. Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
