Description:
Smokey Bones needs a hero! Humans have failed him time and again. He needs an active family that understands his Husky personality and can give him the physical and mental stimulation he requires. He is incredibly smart and knows several commands. He is also incredibly cute, but with that cuteness comes boundless energy, a strong prey drive, never-ending chewing, and the need to run! He has a big dog mentality packed into a small dog body. He loves people and tends to jump on them when excited. He loves other dogs but plays very rough and is not the best match for a small dog. He will chase cats as he may view them as prey. He will run after anything that moves, be it a leaf blowing in the wind, an ant crawling on the ground, a skunk searching for grubs, a fly flitting around, or a bicycle going by. Once laser-focused on a moving object he is off on the chase and hard to recall. Smokey Bones’ DNA was tested by Wisdom Panel® which shows he is a mix of 4 breeds: Pomeranian, Siberian Husky, Bichon Frise, and Yorkshire Terrier. Details on his DNA report can be viewed at: www.wisdompanel.com/app/s/zqxf5rb/reports Smokey Bones is housetrained but needs to be on a strict schedule until fully acclimated into his new home environment. During the transition period, he may need to wear a doggie diaper while he learns the family routine and schedules. Initially, it was thought he had a medical issue because he urinates frequently; however, testing and urinalysis found that only his urine is dilute [low Specific Gravity] which is believed to be due to frequent urination. No other indicators of kidney or liver disease were found. It is also thought that he needs to urinate more because he has a small bladder inherited from his small dog roots. The vet recommended Smokey Bones be on a low protein diet in case there is underlying kidney or liver disease not yet diagnosed. Smokey Bones currently eats Natures Recipe wet and dry food. Smokey Bones is UTD on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. He receives heartworm preventive and flea/tick protection monthly [first day of each month]. Are you Smokey Bones’ hero? Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's contact information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for the yearly registration fee or the lifetime registration fee to change information. Dogs and cats still need to have collar with tags on them should they get lost.
